KILN DRIED HARDWOOD OR SOFTWOOD, WHICH IS BETTER?

Hardwood often produces more heat and burns hotter than softwood because it is denser and heavier overall. Hardwood logs may require fewer burns, while softwood logs are easier to light and work well for lower-temperature fires, such as those in the spring and autumn.

Moat house Farm logs, wow you cannot beat the quality of logs, value for money and most certainly stick to their promises in delivering when they say they will. I have to say, the logs, you do not get any smoke from them so you can burn them and maintain air quality in your home. I rarely have to use an air purifier when I burn Moat house farm logs unlike when I had them from my previous provider. I have used them for the past 3 years and the service they have provided has never faltered. Defo would give them a five star review….

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…

Where does your wood come from?
Our logs are all sourced from British woodland, mainly from within the Staffordshire county.
What size is a bag of your logs?

We have two sizes. Our largest size is a one cubic meter bag which is 40% larger than a standard builders bag. Our medium size is a 0.7 cubic meter bag which is ideal for garage storage.

I see you are Woodsure accredited. What is Woodsure?

Woodsure is the UK’s only quality certification scheme that differentiates us as a responsible, trustworthy fuel producer or supplier. Read more on the Woodsure website.

What size are your logs?

Our standard log size is 10inch (25cm) on request and an additional cost of £10 we can cut a smaller sized 8inch log (20cm).

What is the advantage of kiln dried logs?

Our logs are dried in a kiln for up to, 7 days reducing the logs to a moisture content of below 20%. They therefore burn more efficiently with a cleaner burn and give off less smoke.

What if we live just outside the 10 mile radius?

We are still happy to deliver however there will be a small delivery charge to cover the extra distance..

How are the logs delivered?

We deliver the logs in a transit van with a crane which we use to offload the bag to a convenient location. The logs are left inside the vented delivery bag and reused for future deliveries.

How do I make payment.

We will accept either cash on delivery or a bank transfer.

Do you sell kindling?

Yes we sell kindling at 3 bags for £10.

What are your delivery times?

We deliver Monday to Saturday at a suitable time for you (this will depend on other delivery times) this is arranged when you place the order.
